2021 Boston Review Writing Contests

The Boston  competition is been host by the Boston Review, which serves as an American political and literary magazine.

The competion is open to writers from anywhere in the kind of world.

Deadline of the competition
For Paid entry: 1 June 2021
For Free entry: 1 May 2021

The Competiton is divided into two Categories. They include;

  • Annual Poetry Contest
  • Aura Estrada Short Story Contest

Theme of this year is REPAIR and All entries must be related to this year’s theme of Repair.

You may submit:

  •  up to 5 poems or 10 pages, whichever comes first;
  • a short story of no longer than 5,000 words.


NOTE: The stories and the Poems must be unpublished and All entries must be written in English.

Entry fees

No entry fee for contestants living outside U.S., Canada, Western Europe, and those experiencing hardship, whereas
There is an entry fee of US$20 for writers from the United States, Canada, and Western Europe.

The first prize winner in each contest will receive US$1,000. The winning work will be published in Boston Review’s special literary issue Repair (March 2022).
