International Essay Contest for Young People

 

International Essay Contest for Young People is an annual essay contest that is organized by the Goi Peace Foundation based in Japan.

It aims to inspire society and harness creativity, and energy from the young minds, and also for the initiation of the world’s youth in promoting the spirit of a culture of peace and sustainable development.

This essay competition is an activity within the model of UNESCO’s Education for Sustainable Development: Towards achieving the SDGs (ESD for 2030).

 

THEME OF THIS YEAR

This year’s theme is captioned: “What is Life?”.

What does life mean to you? Have you had an experience that made you think about the meaning of life?

What kinds of things can you do to cherish and invigorate your own life and all life on earth?

 

GUIDELINES:

The Essays must be 700 words or less in English or French, or 1600 characters or less in Japanese,

excluding essay title.

NOTE: The Essays must be original and unpublished. Only one entry per person is accepted.

Deadline of Competiton
15 June 2021

Eligibility
The International Essay Contest for Young People competition is open to anyone up to 25 years old.

There are two age categories: 
• Children (ages up to 14)
• Youth (ages 15 – 25)

 

Entry fees
The International Essay Contest for Young People competition is free to enter.

Prizes
The following awards will be given in the Children’s category and Youth category:
• 1st prize (1): certificate and prize of 100,000 Yen (approximately. USD $900) and gift
• 2nd prize (2): certificate and prize of 50,000 Yen (approximately. USD $450) and gift
• 3rd prize (5): certificate and gift
